There is something undeniably magical about a fall wedding in Texas, but a rustic fall wedding at Lucky Spur Ranch takes that magic to another level. Warm autumn colors, open fields, horses and donkeys, beautiful rustic architecture, and that dreamy Texas sunset created the perfect backdrop for a wedding day that felt romantic, relaxed, personal, and completely true to this couple.

From the bride’s lace wedding gown hanging from one of the ranch’s gorgeous rustic doors to sunset portraits in the field, every part of this day was filled with thoughtful details. Peach and ivory florals were mixed with loose greenery and delicate snapdragons, gold accents warmed up the reception space, and soft white draping floated beneath strands of Edison lights.

And then there were the puppies.

The bride’s two pups weren’t simply included for a few photos—they were part of the story of the day. Between puppy cuddles in the bridal suite, tiny paws underneath the wedding veil, and one particularly adorable photo involving the bride’s personalized cowboy boots, there was no shortage of moments that felt completely personal.

This is exactly what we love about photographing and filming weddings at Lucky Spur Ranch: there is room for the beautiful details, the emotional moments, the animals, the laughter, and the wonderfully unexpected pieces that make every wedding different.

Getting Ready in the Rustic Bridal Suite at Lucky Spur Ranch

The wedding story began inside the bridal suite, surrounded by beautiful rustic walls and warm textures that instantly gave the getting-ready photographs that cozy Texas ranch feeling.

Before the bride stepped into her gown, we photographed it hanging from one of the ranch’s rustic doors. A wedding dress deserves more than simply being photographed on a hanger, and this setting was absolutely perfect for it. The intricate lace of her gown looked incredible against the texture of the wood, creating a photograph that immediately established the feeling of the day: romantic, rustic, elegant, and timeless.

We also made time for photographs of the bride alone with her gown before she put it on.

These quieter moments are some of our favorites to create on a wedding morning. There is so much anticipation in those final minutes before a bride gets dressed. After months—or sometimes years—of planning, suddenly the dress is hanging right in front of her and the wedding day is actually happening.

Then it was time to get her dressed.

Against the rustic walls of the bridal suite, we documented all those little moments as everything came together: the lace, the final adjustments, the boots, the veil, and all of the excitement surrounding her.

But there were two very important members of the bridal party who needed to join us, too.

Her puppies.

Wedding Photos With the Bride’s Two Puppies

Including pets in wedding photos will forever have our hearts.

These two puppies were such a big part of the bride’s day, so instead of treating their photos like an afterthought, we made them part of the wedding story.

We photographed the bride playing with her pups underneath her veil, creating some of the sweetest and most playful images from the entire day. There is something so wonderfully real about a beautiful bride in an elegant lace gown sitting down to love on her dogs.

It was polished and beautiful without losing the personality behind the photographs.

One of our favorite little details involved the bride’s cowboy boots. Her boots were engraved with her new last name, making them such a meaningful wedding-day keepsake. Of course, one of the puppies had to join us for a few photographs with them.

Because sometimes the smallest details become some of the photographs you love the most.

The boots represented the beginning of a new chapter, and having her pup right there beside them made the image feel even more personal.

The Groom Getting Ready in the Horse Stalls

While the bride was getting ready inside, the groom had a setting that could not have been more fitting for a Lucky Spur Ranch wedding.

The horse stalls.

We photographed him getting ready surrounded by the authentic textures of the ranch, creating masculine, editorial portraits that still felt completely connected to the setting.

He wore a classic black suit paired with a rust-colored tie—the perfect choice for a fall wedding. The warm rust tone connected beautifully with the bridesmaids’ dresses and autumn color palette while the black suit kept everything sophisticated and timeless.

The contrast of formal wedding attire against an actual working ranch setting is one of our favorite things about photographing rustic Texas weddings. You get that polished wedding-day feeling without losing the personality of the venue.

Peach, Ivory & Greenery for a Romantic Fall Wedding

The floral design brought a softer side to the traditional fall wedding palette.

Rather than relying exclusively on deep autumn colors, the wedding featured beautiful peach and ivory florals, loose greenery, and snapdragons. The combination felt romantic and organic while still complementing the warm tones of the season.

Touches of gold elevated the rustic setting throughout the reception.

The tables featured gold chargers with loose greenery running through the center, surrounded by tall pillar candles inside clear glass vases. It was simple enough to allow the ranch itself to shine but elegant enough to completely transform the tables as evening arrived.

As the sun went down and the candlelight began to glow, the entire reception took on another personality.

Above it all were strands of Edison lights paired with thin, sheer white drapery.

The softness of the fabric against the warm bulbs was gorgeous. It brought movement and romance overhead without taking away from the rustic architecture surrounding it.

This is one of the reasons we love ranch weddings so much: rustic does not have to mean casual. With thoughtful styling, natural greenery, candlelight and elegant details, a ranch wedding can feel incredibly elevated while still being warm and inviting.

An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in the Texas Sun

The ceremony took place outdoors beneath the Texas sun.

There is nothing quite like an outdoor ranch ceremony—the open sky, natural landscape, warm light and quiet feeling of being surrounded by the countryside create an atmosphere that simply cannot be recreated indoors.

After the ceremony, we moved into family and wedding-party formals around the ranch and in front of the barn.

The bridesmaids wore mismatched fall-colored dresses, giving the bridal party a beautifully layered autumn palette rather than one single shade. And because this was a true Texas ranch wedding, several of the girls paired their dresses with cowboy boots.

It was the perfect combination.

Romantic dresses, fall colors, cowboy boots, rustic barn doors and a whole lot of personality.

Wedding Photos With Donkeys, Longhorns & All the Ranch Personality

One of the best parts about a wedding at Lucky Spur Ranch?

You never know who might wander into your wedding portraits.

The donkeys absolutely had to make an appearance.

They added so much personality to the photographs and gave us those wonderfully fun images that instantly transport you back to the experience of the day.

We also photographed around the pond with the longhorns nearby, incorporating even more of the landscape and animals that make this venue so unique.

When couples choose a ranch wedding venue, we want their photographs to actually feel like they were taken at a ranch. We want to use the barns, fences, fields, animals, textures, open spaces and everything else that made them fall in love with the property in the first place.

Those elements aren't distractions from beautiful wedding photography.

They are part of the story.

Magical Sunset Wedding Photos at Lucky Spur Ranch

And then came golden hour.

This is the part of a wedding day we are always watching and planning for.

As the sun began dropping toward the horizon, we took the bride and groom out into the open field for their sunset formals. Behind them, the sky turned warm and golden, giving us that gorgeous backlight that makes fall wedding portraits feel almost cinematic.

The bride’s lace gown glowed in the evening light. Her groom’s black suit stood out beautifully against the softer colors of the field. The surrounding ranch faded into warm autumn tones while the sun slipped lower behind them.

These were the photographs where everything slowed down.

No bridal party.

No timeline moving around them.

No reception details to finish.

Just the two of them walking through the field together as newlyweds.

We photographed movement, quiet embraces, big landscapes and intimate portraits. We let them walk, laugh, hold onto one another and simply enjoy a few minutes together.

We also used the pond and surrounding ranch landscape for more portraits, giving their gallery a mixture of romantic close-ups and sweeping images that showed exactly where they chose to get married.

Golden hour at Lucky Spur Ranch is truly something special.

Dancing Under the Edison Lights

Once the sun disappeared, the celebration moved into the night.

The Edison lights glowed overhead, the candles flickered along the tables, and the sheer white draping softened the entire space as everyone hit the dance floor.

This is when wedding photography and videography shift again.

The quiet romance of sunset gives way to movement, laughter, dancing and all the wonderfully unpredictable moments that happen once the party begins.

We love documenting both sides of a wedding day.

We want the gorgeous portraits that deserve to be framed on your walls, but we also want the photographs of your people laughing until they cry. We want the movement on the dance floor. We want the puppy kisses, the donkeys, the cowboy boots, the wind catching your veil and the tiny moments you never even realized were happening.

Because years from now, those photographs and films become the way you experience this day again.
